Kingsbury was a member of the Texas Tech Red Raiders throughout his college football career. At Texas Tech, he started 43 games and completed 1,229 of 1,881 passes for 12,423 yards, 95 touchdowns, and 40 interceptions. He set 39 school records, 13 Big 12 Conference records, and 7 NCAA FBS records throughout his college career. Kingsbury earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management degree from the Rawls College of Business in 2001.
The New England Patriots selected Kliff in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He missed his first season due to injury and was placed on injured reserve.
